‘한 송이 장미에서 천국을 보고 한 톨의 모래알에서 우주를 본다’ 라는 윌리엄 블레이크William Blake의 말처럼 우리들 감정의 시선은 무수한 변화를 일으키면서 삶을 촉진시킨다. 이렇듯 감정의 시선은 하나의 새로운 현실을 만들어 내는 가능성을 전제하고 예술은 그것을 실현하는 영위로서 존재하고 있다.
백미옥은 색채를 주된 언어로 이용해서 화폭위에 형상을 해체하고 작가로서의 정체를 그 위에 해소하여 물리적, 정신적으로 밀착하는 채색 작업을 해왔다.하나의 색채로 보여지는 작품들은 춤추는 듯 한 수많은 붓질과 끊임없는 탐구의 과정을 거친 고독한 인내의 작업들이다. 이러한 행위를 통해 보여지는 표면의 마티에르는 풍부하지만 결코 드러내지 않는 겸손의 체험적 미학을 경험하게 한다. 작품 내면에 끊임없는 자신의 신념과 투영은, 단절되고 대립됨이 없는 깊은 심연의 영역 속으로의 침윤과 공기의 층과. 빛의 음영이. 조화를 이루는 시적인 수를 놓는 실존의 확인 과정인 것이다.
5년만에 선보이는 이번 11번째 개인전은 종결되지 않은 끝없는 전진으로 영구적인 미완성과 새로운 시작만이 존재하는 시점을 보여주는 불시不時의 작품이 보여진다. 셀 수 없는 중첩의 시간만큼이나 감정의 깊이는 가늠할 수 없고 작가와 함께 동행하는 색채의 서술 안에서 우리의 시선은 진정한 존재의 실감을 찾는다. 형상이 해체되기 시작되는 2000년도 이후의 미발표 작품부터 능혜菱蕙 이후 보여 지는 천착된 붓질의 신작들에서 정체를 알 수 없는 설렘과 고요함, 감정의 욕망이 꿈틀됨을 엿볼 수 있을 것이다.

Just as William Blake wrote, “To see a world in a grain of sand and a heaven in a wild flower,” the gaze of our emotions generates countless transformations that propel life forward. In this way, the emotional gaze presupposes the possibility of creating a new reality, while art exists as the act through which such possibilities are realized.Using color as her primary language, Paik Mee Ok has continuously dissolved form upon the canvas, dissolving her own artistic identity into the surface through a practice of painting that is both physically and spiritually immersive. Her seemingly monochromatic works are, in fact, the result of innumerable dancing brushstrokes, endless inquiry, and solitary endurance. The matière revealed through these repetitive acts offers an experiential aesthetics of humility—rich in texture yet never overtly revealing itself.Within the inner depths of the work, the artist’s unwavering beliefs and projections permeate into a profound realm untouched by rupture or opposition. Layers of air and shadows of light harmonize together, becoming a poetic embroidery and a process through which existence itself is affirmed.This 11th solo exhibition, presented after five years, reveals works of Bulsi (不時)—works that embody an unending advance, a state in which only perpetual incompletion and new beginnings exist. As immeasurable as the accumulated layers of time are the depths of emotion contained within them. Through the narrative of color that accompanies the artist, our gaze encounters the tangible sensation of true existence. From previously unseen works created after the dissolution of form in the 2000s to the newly presented paintings following Neunghye (菱蕙), marked by deeply layered brushwork, viewers will encounter indescribable anticipation, stillness, and the subtle stirring of emotional desire.
